Steve had that characteristic drummer's trait of unpredictability (madness), but always had a responsible attitude, something that elludes many musicians famed or otherwise.

Tangent were happy to adopt a heavier sound, that became natural under Steve's influential drumming, quite in line with his idols mentioned above. This didn't have any adverse effects with the band, as there was always the restraint necessary from other members, to curb any excesses.

Sometimes appearing a somber figure, Steve became a complete extrovert behind the kit, and was respected by any who saw him play. And when he decided to leave, the matter was handled with the best possible regard.

Steve Ebsworth, was probably Tangent's most tecnically proficient drummer, as well as being the longest serving. Influences from "Nicko McBrian" and "Lars Ulrich" from Iron Maiden and Metallica respectively, meant that a high quality of percussion was expected and delivered by Steve.

Steve joined Tangent (from another London rock band "Armistice") because appart from liking the music; he knew that it would offer the challenge he required. Steve used the dynamic range and space to good effect and pushed his much loved Sonor kit to near distruction.
